  • 450g of minced meat (lamb or beef)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp. of ginger, minced
  • 1 tsp. of ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. of ground coriander
  • 1 tsp. of turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp. of garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp. of salt
  • 2 tbsp. chopped cilantro (coriander leaves)
  • 2 tbsp. coconut milk
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 tbsp. of vegetable oil


1. Preheat a large frying pan over medium heat and then add the oil to the pan.

2. Add the onions and sauté for 3 to 5 minutes, or until they are soft and translucent. Add the garlic and ginger and sauté for another 1 to 2 minutes.

3. Add the ground cumin, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, and salt to the pan and stir well to combine with the onions and garlic.

4. Add the minced meat to the pan and use a wooden spoon to break up the meat and mix it really well with the spices. Cook the meat for about 5 to 7 minutes or until it is browned and cooked through.

5. Now, add the chopped tomatoes, water, coconut milk, and cilantro to the pan. Stir everything to combine and scrape any bits from the bottom of the pan.

6. Bring everything to the boil and then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pan, and let it simmer for about 10 to 15 minutes.

3. Preheat your grill or bbq to medium-high heat. Grill the koftas for about 4 to 5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
