Ingredients:

  • 1 pack of phyllo dough
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped mixed nuts (walnuts, almonds, pistachios)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the chopped nuts, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar.
  3. Brush the bottom of a baking dish with some melted butter.
  4. Unroll the phyllo dough and cut it to fit your baking dish.
  5. Place one layer of phyllo in the dish and brush with melted butter.
  6. Add another layer of phyllo, brush with melted butter again, and continue building until you have used half of the dough.
  7. Spread the nut and sugar mixture over the top layer of dough.
  8. Add the remaining layers of dough, brushing each layer with melted butter as you go.
  9. Before baking, cut the baklava into diamond shapes (just like in the image!) with a sharp knife.
  10. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden and crispy.
  11. While the baklava is still hot, pour the honey over the top, making sure it gets into all of the cut lines.
  12. Let the baklava cool before serving, and enjoy!

Alright, let’s get down to business. Here’s what you need for this drool-worthy dessert:

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb phyllo dough
  • 2 cups chopped pistachios mixed with 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Butter the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. Layer a sheet of phyllo dough into the dish and butter it. Repeat with another sheet of phyllo, and continue layering until you have used half of the dough.
  4. Sprinkle the nut mixture over the top layer of phyllo.
  5. Continue layering the phyllo, buttering each sheet. Make sure to reserve some melted butter for the top layer.
  6. Cut the baklava into diamond shapes before baking.
  7. Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  8. While the baklava is baking, make the syrup. In a saucepan, combine the honey, water, and lemon juice, and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  9. When the baklava comes out of the oven, immediately pour the syrup over the top, making sure it gets into all of the cut lines.
  10. Let the baklava cool before serving, and enjoy!
