Good day, folks! Today, we’re going to share with you our recipe for a classic Indian street food dish: Aloo Tikki. Aloo Tikki is a delicious potato patty that’s crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It’s usually served with chutney and chickpeas, and it’s one of my favorite dishes. We have two different recipes to share with you today, so let’s get started!

Aloo Tikki Chole Recipe

For the Aloo, you will need:

  • 3 medium-sized potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • Salt to taste

For the Chole, you will need:

  • 1 cup kabuli chana (white chickpeas), soaked overnight
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix together the mashed potatoes, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, chopped coriander leaves and salt. Make sure everything is well combined.
  2. Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into flat patties.
  3. Coat the patties in bread crumbs and set them aside.
  4. Heat a frying pan and shallow fry the patties until golden brown on both sides.
  5. For the chole, in a pressure cooker, add the soaked chickpeas and enough water to cover them.
  6. Add some salt and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles or until the chickpeas are soft and well cooked.
  7. In another pan, heat oil and add the cumin seeds.
  8. When the cumin seeds start to sizzle, add the chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
  9. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute.
  10. Add the chopped tomatoes and sauté until they turn mushy.
  11. Add the coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder and salt. Mix everything well.
  12. Finally, add the boiled chickpeas and mix everything well. Allow it to simmer for a few minutes.
  13. When ready to serve, place the hot aloo tikki on a plate and pour the chole over it.
  14. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.

McCain Aloo Tikki Recipe

For the Aloo, you will need:

  • 1 pack McCain Aloo Tikki 760gm

Instructions:

  1. Heat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Place the McCain Aloo Tikki on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Bake for 8 minutes on one side, then flip the patties over and bake for another 8 minutes.
  4. When done, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  5. When ready to serve, place the hot aloo tikki on a plate and serve with your favorite chutney.
