Aloo Gobi

  • 2 medium-sized potatoes
  • 1 medium-sized cauliflower head
  • 1 onion – finely chopped
  • 1 tomato – finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt or as required


  1. Wash and cut the potatoes and cauliflower into small pieces. Keep them aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
  3. Add onion and sauté until they turn translucent.
  4. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell goes away.
  5. Add chopped tomato and sauté until they turn soft and mushy.
  6. Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Mix well and sauté for a minute.
  7. Add the chopped potatoes and cauliflower. Mix well.
  8. Cover the pan and cook on medium flame for 10-12 minutes or until the vegetables are cooked through.
  9. Once cooked, turn off the heat and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
  10. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
